About Shane Mackinnon

Shane Mackinnon is a Cinematographer, Editor, Director, Writer and Visual Effects artist currently living in the Hutchinson, MN area but open to relocation for the right opportunity.

He graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead with honors. He received a Bachelor of Arts for Film Studies as well as Bachelor of Science for Graphic Communications. Proficient with both Windows and Macintosh systems, including Final Cut Pro, Adobe Production Suite, HTML/CSS web coding, Autodesk Maya and 3DS Max.

He works well with others, creating a positive and supportive attitude both on set and off. Dedicated to achieving quality and meeting deadlines, he is always seeking to increase his experience, hone his craft and perfect his work.

Scriptwriting

He has a good understanding of three act narrative structure and hero’s journey theory. Excellent grasp of scene subtext and character motivation. Experience in writing original scripts as well as adaptations. He is known for giving detailed, constructive and honest screenplay critique.

Shooting

He has worked with DSLR, Micro 4/3rd, Prosumer, and 16mm Film Cameras. He has excellent knowledge and practice with gripping and gaffing. He has good familiarity of microphone placement and audio recording practices. He has good experience working with and directing actors and talent.

He is experienced with Final Cut Pro and Adobe Production Suite among other post production software. Comprehesive knowledge of post production techniques such as color grading and compositing. Strong understanding of video encoding technologies for online distribution and DVD mastering. He is also experienced with HTML5/CSS coding and web design.
